SYNOPSIS
In 1961, Germany saw the rise of the Berlin Wall. A frightening curtain dividing a city, a nation and the World. ‘Everything Between Us’ tells the life-affirming story of a British Journalist and his journey across Checkpoint Charlie into the Soviet sector of Berlin. Residing with a group of locals, he meets the love of his life and helps them find an almost unreachable hope through a profound discovery of love, friendship and music.
A STORY OF HOPE...
The World faces another frightful moment in history, assumingly unprecedented, but seen as a repetition to numerous conflicts the World has already witnessed, most notably The Cold War. As the Ukraine/Russian war threatens the lives of not only the millions of its residents, but the entire World, there is no better time to remind humanity of the good that can thrive during such a crisis as this. Hope, friendship and courage - the themes our show explored through our story, our characters and their decisions.
Following a year of writing the music and script during the 2020 Lockdown, we embarked on a two week workshop, putting the show on its feet for the first time - with a performance at Marylebone Theatre, London to conclude. The workshop provided a collaborative environment to develop with our creative team and cast of 10 talented professional actors the story, style and music featured in our brand new production.
From table reads, to detailed discussions of character and plot, to blocking and simple choreography, the show was developed and rehearsed in the space of two weeks. Featuring minimal staging, limited lighting and basic props/costume, the workshop was performed to a group of industry professionals, family and friends and received tremendous reviews.
